Rocket is new to BCRMN so we are learning about him, but ultimately he's a puppy w/puppy energy and like all pups, he needs rules and direction. Rocket came into foster care kind of wanting to run the show, but quickly learned that doesn't fly here. He was cool w/that and has since been doing very well. Rocket goes out w/the other foster dogs and likes playing (although they are all older then him and not really into the puppy shenanigans, but he respects them when they tell him to buzz off).
Rocket is a BIG BOY. He is 60# and his estimated DOB is July 2017. The previous rescue ran a DNA test on him and it came back w/all sorts of breeds listed (typical rez dog). He is a total mixed breed, but the lineup did include Aussie, German Shepherd, Rottweiler, and Alaskan Malamute...so, take your pick LOL. Due to all these 'big' breeds we do expect him to keep growing a bit more.
Rocket has shown some interest in cats and small dogs, due to this, we feel he'd do best in a home w/another BIG dog and no kitty friends. Rocket is a little mouthy still (typical pup), but again, due to size and we feel he'd do best in an adult home or a home w/older teenagers. Rocket is house trained and has been doing well in his crate. He will destroy blankets in his crate, but seems to do fine w/out any bedding currently).
Rocket is a medium energy dog. He's got typical puppy energy, but he's also a dude who needs an active lifestyle. Rocket is looking for a home who will take him to classes (proof of enrollment at an approved training facility will be required prior to adoption) and use balanced training methods with him. He's a big boy, combined w/his DNA mixture- it's extremely important that he learns rules and manners as a youngster. Rocket needs an active home who will do things with him- he's not really a dog park candidate, but he'd be a fun hiking, camping, jogging, etc buddy. He may enjoy hobby level dog sports as well.
