Missy2 is an unique dog. Let's talk about the good first: She is very smart and knows a lot of commands, but she does have a few quirks. Missy is fully house trained. She knows how to walk nicely on a leash, she can do sit and down stays, she'll sit before she goes out of a door way (and waits to be called through). She will come when called and knows several tricks (spin, high five, jumping commands, etc). She is good for grooming and will hop right in the tub. She's also good for having her nails done. She rides well in a crate in a car. She's a young dog who wants to please and is like a sponge when learning new things. She is totally fine w/cats and she likes to play w/toys.
Okay, so now the not-so-good: Missy has some pretty serious crate issues. She can not be crated in your home. She does, however, seem to be fine with a kennel run. She is in a 5x5x6' run in foster care and has been great. She does ride in a vehicle in a crate just fine and seems to be okay at the vet in a vet-type kennel as well. We have no clue what causes the specific crate issue, but it's very real. Her previous home kept her in an indoor/outdoor kennel when they weren't home and that seemed to work very well for her. We normally would not approve this type of situation for one of our dogs, but this is what seems to work best for Missy2, so this is what we need to find for her. Missy2 is still young and can occasionally be destructive if left loose unsupervised- hence the need for the kennel. She has a raised bed in her kennel run and loves to snooze on it.
Missy2 is looking for an adult-only home. She would do best as an only dog, but may be okay w/another MALE dog of her same size. We will require that she has a kennel run- NO CRATES. She is fine w/cats. She could possibly work for a home w/out a fence, provided she was supervised when outside. She doesn't seem to have a lot of interest in chasing things, so a home w/livestock may work for her (again, training and supervision are a must). We realize the perfect home for Missy2 is pretty specific, but we think it's out there. If you feel your home meets the bill, drop us an application!
