Vixen came into the shelter because she nipped at a small child. This is not uncommon for herding breeds. Per her paperwork she is a border collie x newfoundland mix...and frankly, we believe it. She's a big girl at 60+ pounds. She moves like a big dog- not like an agile border collie. She is super sweet and quickly bonds to her people. I don't think she's had any sort of training, but she keeps her kennel clean. She is quiet and pretty easy going. Vixen seems to be fine w/other dogs but did show some interest in cats.
We don't know the circumstances surrounding the nip at the child, but we think she'll be just fine in a home w/adults or kids ages 12+. Having met her and spent time w/her I think you'd really have to push buttons to get any sort of negative reaction out of her. She really is a pretty chill dog. She is a lower energy gal and pretty easy going.
Vixen is looking for an easy going home. She'd benefit from some obedience training, but would probably be a good dog for someone who enjoys going on leisurely walks and hanging out. All in all she's a pretty easy girl- if you like big dogs, but not TOO big, then maybe Vixen is the girl for you!
