UPDATE: Spirit earned his Novice Trick Dog title with the awesome help of his foster mom!! Check out the video to see all of his fun tricks!!
Spirit came into rescue through no fault of his own. He is a nice guy who is a little overwhelmed by the chaos of our crazy home. While Spirit looks very labby we are assured his mom was a purebred border collie and dad was 1/2 border collie and 1/2 lab- so he's mostly BC- but happened to get the labby look. He is more sensitive like a border collie- that's for sure.
Spirit is a nice guy. He is a little hesitant when he meets new people, but he warms up quickly and then is very happy and friendly. He has ignored our barn cats, but that is about the extent of our cat testing. He's been fine with the other dogs but would rather not be with super bossy/dominate dogs. We have not tested him w/kids, but feel he'd be fine with teenagers and up.
We were told he can easily clear a 4' fence- and given his kangaroo legs, I don't doubt that one little bit! He's respected our 6' fencing and would probably do best with that. This dude has legs for days. We feel he'd be a wonderful running/jogging/hiking/camping partner. I think he'd love being your bud and going on adventures with you. Spirit is a go-with-the-flow sort of guy. He rides well in a car crated (our fosters all ride crated). He is doing well on his house and crate training.
If you're an adventurous person looking for a dog to join in your fun, Spirit just may be the dog for you!
(side note: Spirit got an abscess on his paw shortly after coming into rescue- it is visible in these pictures. He's since fully recovered and has finished his antibiotics- he's got a clean bill of health!)
