  • Additional Info: Monte was born on a farm. His mom was the farm's working dog and his dad was the neighbors working farm dog. He is purebred, but not papered.

    • These are typical pups; happy, playful, social and fun They are already showing signs of serious stock dogs, though, so they are looking for working homes.

    Foster Home Update 12.27.11: Monte is a very observant puppy, he investigates everything that catches his eye, anything that moves he wants to go after (like cars on a walk), very smart. Hes going to excel at what ever job you give him, and he will need a job. He is doing great at crate training and sleeps through the night with usually only letting him out around 1am to potty. He's quiet all night until he hears your alarm go off. I bring him to work and he is crated 4hrs at a time and doesn't potty in his crate. He is also doing well at potty training in the house. He is really timid around new situations, the foster home is working with this, but continued socialization is recommended. He is a bit on the more independent side, happy to lay on his dog bed chewing a bone vs cuddling on the couch. Monte has stronger drive, due to this he is not a puppy for a first time border collie owner.

    Monte's ideal forever home would be a home w/previous border collie experience. He would do well w/jobs to do. Monte would benefit from going to puppy classes to continue to learn new things, plus keep up his socializing. Monte will need a home with a fenced yard. Monte would do best with children ages 12+. He will be a very loyal dog to his family.
